How is the provider helping children recognize this transition?
She is singing a song that the children recognize, which gives them the cue that it is time to transition and tells them what they need to be doing.
How is the provider supporting independence with the children?
She is helping the children put toys away, but is not doing it for them. She also allows a child to hold the container by himself.
How is the provider encouraging appropriate behavior and self-regulation?
As the children are cleaning up a child who is not helping is trying to get her attention. She clearly focuses on the children who are helping and does not give negative reinforcement to the child who is acting inappropriately. Eventually the child will realize that by helping he will get the attention he desires and begin to learn self-regulation.
